Il Divo's Carlos Marín in hospital as band 'hoping and praying'

Il Divo have confirmed that musician Carlos Marín is currently in hospital

The singer, 53, is thought to be under strict observation at the intensive care unit at the Manchester Royal Hospital.

Il Divo wrote on Twitter: ‘Our dear friend and partner, Carlos, is in the hospital. We are hoping and praying for a speedy recovery.’

Earlier today, Spanish outlet El Espanol reported that Marín is in an induced coma. He is said to be stable, but is being intubated.

The news comes shortly after Il Divo had to postpone the remaining dates of their December tour until 2022, ‘due to illness’.

They said on Twitter: ‘Unfortunately, due to illness, the remaining dates for Il Divo’s December 2021 UK tour have been postponed until December 2022.

‘Il Divo are deeply sorry to their fans, but look forward to returning to the road in the new year and seeing you all in the run up to next Christmas.’

Marín’s most recent Instagram post is from December 6, as he promoted upcoming tour dates.

Our dear friend and partner, Carlos, is in the hospital. We are hoping and praying for a speedy recovery.

Il Divo consists of Marín, Urs Bühler, Sébastien Izambard, and David Miller.

Formed in 2003, the group was created by Simon Cowell under his SyCo record label.

They’ve seen huge success over the years, with their self-titled debut album becoming a worldwide multiplatinum selling record.

Marín is a Spanish baritone and had performed onstage in musicals before Cowell’s international search for members of the crossover classical band.

He married his wife Geraldine Larrosa in June 2006 after 13 years together.

However, the pair split in 2009 after three years of marriage.
