The Wanted’s Tom Parker gets first Covid-19 jab and urges fans to ‘just get it done so we can move on’

The Wanted star Tom Parker has revealed he has received his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine and is urging fans to do the same.

Singer Tom, 32, was heartbreakingly diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour last year but has recently shared his joy after being told there was a “significant reduction” in the tumour.

Now, Tom has documented his journey to receiving the jab with candid pictures and videos on his Instagram story.

Tom, who recently said his life was turned upside down after his brain tumour diagnosis, firstly shared a Boomerang video of himself sat in the back of a car on his way to receive the injection.

The clip shows him putting his thumb up and opening his mouth widely to show his excitement to get vaccinated.

Writing on top, he told his 210,000 followers: “Off to get my first COVID jab. #getvaccinated”.

The next post was another Boomerang of the queue outside the vaccination centre, which comprised of a series of large white tents.

He told fans on top: “Let’s go vaccine 1 underway”.

Singer and dad-of-two Tom then shared another image of some paperwork, including instructions for what to do before and after receiving the jab, a leaflet titled “Covid-19 vaccination what to expect” and a car with the star’s name on, the date of when he received his first vaccine and the type of jab he would be receiving.


As he waited in line, Tom wrote on top of this image: “Here we go”.

The final snap Tom shared was a selfie, which showed him wearing a black cap, navy blue hoodie and a khaki jacket which was zipped open.

Tom also had a blue single-use face covering over his nose and mouth as he sat inside the vaccination centre, with a poster seen behind him.

As he looked at the camera, Tom added a message to urge fans to follow his example as he wrote: “#JustGetItDoneSoWeCanAllMoveOn”.

It comes after Tom shared his joy after he was told by doctors he had a significant reduction in his brain tumour.

Tom shared the wonderful news as he posted a picture with his wife Kelsey and their two children on Instagram, explaining he was “responding well” to treatment.

He said: “These are the words I received today and I can’t stop saying them over and over again.

“I had an MRI scan on Tuesday and my results today were a significant reduction to the tumour and I am responding well to treatment.

“Everyday I’m keeping on the fight to shrink this b*****d!

“I can’t thank our wonderful NHS enough. You’re all having a tough time out there but we appreciate the work you are all doing.”
