Zoe Ball, 50, cheered on her pal and successor, as Janette Manrara, 37, made her It Takes Two debut on Thursday evening. Taking to Instagram following the programme, Zoe, who was watching from home, was over the moon for her pal.

“Loved watching you shine on ITT tonight, firecracker,” she beamed, as Janette thanked her for her support.

The Radio Two presenter, who competed in Strictly herself in 2005, hosted the show since 2011 after taking over from original host Claudia Winkleman.

She announced she was stepping down on social media, explaining why she was leaving the show after a decade.

“Dance lovers, after 10 joyous years I am waltzing away from It Takes Two,” Zoe wrote.

She continued to tell her followers: “As a massive @bbcstrictly fan I have loved spending my Autumn teatimes with the celebrity dancers, the gorgeous & awesome pro dancers, the judges, my girl Vicky Gill, Rylan, Gethin & of course my main man Ian Waite.

“Time now for some new cha cha challenges. I will continue to support the Strictly family on the Breakfast Show & can’t wait to watch the Class Of 2021 from my sofa.”

She added: “Huge love & grateful thanks to Tess & Claude & the whole Strictly clan, the ITT fans, my Glam Squad, Eve Winstanley, Alex McLeod, the BBC2 gang, & of course the best telly crew ever.

“I will miss you all immensely. As Iveta would say ‘Friends for the life’.”

Ahead of her debut, Janette recently shared a cryptic message with her own 454,000 followers about how everything in life happens for a reason.

The former professional dancer uploaded the interesting quote which left fans reflective.

The post, written by M.Sosa, said: “Someday, you’ll realise that everything you’ve gone through was a blessing in disguise.

“Things didn’t work out the way you expected them to because you were being prepared for something better, and all the restless nights wondering why everything happen to you will finally make sense.”

Fans and celebrities alike were quick to comment on how the post had touched them.

Rylan Clark commented: “Amen sister.”

Ashley Roberts said: “Yass sis!! say it.”(sic)

Fan joysofpassion said: “AMEN… I PRAY SO.”

Ulurobbins told Janette how much her post had touched her and made her think about her own situation.

She said: “This is so true & I’m just realising it now after 3 very crazy years of marriage – we’ve had some fabulous highs & some extreme lows but I do believe it’s made us stronger & helped us get to the better place we are in now!

“Thank you for sharing this.”

Pipi_doodle added: “This message could not have been more timely today – thank you.”
