Elvis Presley was married only once from 1967-1973. The King of Rock and Roll wed long-term girlfriend Priscilla, who he had met in 1958 Germany when she was just 14. Having separated in 1972, the star was looking for a new lover and set his sights on Miss Tennessee model Linda Thompson.

Linda lived with Elvis at Graceland for the next four years, but despite their intimate relationship the couple never did get married. By the end of 1976, The King had been seeing other women and she broke up with him amicably feeling she needed a more normal life out of his celebrity spotlight.

Elvis then began asking his Memphis Mafia inner circle to bring potential new girlfriends up to Graceland for him to meet. Having requested an audience with the new Miss Tennessee model, Terry Alden arrived at the Memphis mansion one evening with her sisters Ginger and Rosemary.

It soon became apparent that Elvis was interested in Ginger Alden and the pair started dating. Two months later on January 26, 1977, The King proposed to the 20-year-old with the huge diamond taken from his TCB ring.

Ginger claims that on the day Elvis died, August 16, 1977, they set a wedding date of Christmas Day that year. Now his last girlfriend has shared why she believes Elvis proposed to her instead of Linda.
