Kim Kardashian ‘files for divorce from Kanye West after seven years of marriage’

Kim Kardashian has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband Kanye West, bringing their seven-year marriage to an end.

According to TMZ, the celebrity couple hope to have an "amicable" divorce, with Kim requesting joint legal and physical custody of their four children.

The documents filed allegedly do not list a date of separation.

Daily Star has contacted Kim's representatives for comment.

The famous couple had been surrounded by rumours of an impending divorce in recent months after Kanye's strange behaviour.

After keeping quiet about their love life and carrying on business as usual, Kim, 40, has now confirmed that she and her rapper man are going their separate ways.

The duo have a long history together, after meeting in the early 2000s before eventually starting dating in April 2012.

At the time, Kim was still legally married to her second husband Kris Humphires, after their 72-day marriage.

Kim's divorce from NBA player Kris was eventually finalised in June 2013, and Kanye, 43, proposed on October 21, which was Kim's 33rd birthday.

They tied the knot seven months later in a lavish Florence wedding, with her gown designed by Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy fame.

Their first child together, daughter North, was born on June 15, 2013, a few months before Kim and Kanye got engaged.

The couple welcomed son Saint on December 5, 2015, who would become the last child that Kim would carry herself.

After a number of difficulties during pregnancy, Kim's doctors advised her against ever trying to get pregnant again.

For babies No3 and No4, Kim and Kanye used a surrogate.

Daughter Chicago was born on January 15, 2018, while son Psalm came into the world on May 9, 2019.

The stars appeared to be the picture of happiness, with Kanye even making appearances in Kim's family's reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

However rumours of cracks began to emerge in 2020, when Kanye decided to run for US President.

In the summer of 2020, amid his Presidential bid, Kanye caused concern with a number of bizarre tweets.

One saw him directly address daughter "Northy", saying: "I am going to war and putting my life on the line and if I am murdered don't ever let white media tell you I wasn't a good man… when people threaten to take you out of my life just know I love you."

He shared a video appearing to show him urinating on his Grammy award, which was placed in a toilet.

At a rally in July, he claimed that he stopped Kim from aborting North, sobbing as he said: "I almost killed my daughter."

Seemingly pre-empting what was to come, he went on: "Even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into this world."

He tweeted that Kim's mum Kris Jenner "tried to lock [him] up", also claiming Kim "tried to bring a doctor to lock [him] up".

Seemingly taking aim at Kim, he shared a photo of his kids, writing: "West children will never do Playboy west [sic]."

After the ordeal, Kim was photographed crying in a car after flying out to their Wyoming ranch to be with Kanye.

But the drama from their romance went quiet until January 2021, when reports that they were discussing divorce first emerged.

Kanye is Kim's third husband.

She was married to Damon Thomas between 2000 and 2004, and Kris Humphries from 2011 to 2013, though they split up 72 days after their wedding.

Kanye had never been married before Kim, but was engaged to designer Alexis Phifer. He also dated model Amber Rose between 2008 and 2010.
