A Place in the Sun's Scarlette Douglas issues stern warning to 'hard to please' couple after string of complaints

A PLACE in the Sun host Scarlette Douglas was forced to issue a warning to a newly wed couple as they searched for their dream home.

The Channel 4 property expert spoke out as she attempted to help Pam and Steve find their new home in Spain's Costa Blanca, amid their growing list of must-haves.

The pair's criteria for the perfect pad kept being added to on the show as Scarlette offered up a selection of five properties which met their budget of £155,000.

Originally from The Wirral, Pam and Steve were hoping to relocate to Torrevieja to live in a property with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a garden and pool.

Property number one had four bedrooms and two bathrooms, but the communal pool did not take the couple's fancy, with Steve commenting that it felt "a bit enclosed".

Potential disturbance from the nearby traffic was also an issue despite the villa being on the market for £135,000 and the possibility of getting the price down to £126,000.

Scarlette quipped: "You’re hard to please, aren’t you?", as Steve made his feelings about the site very clear.

Up next was a three-bed villa with another communal pool, on the market for around £152,000.

Pam in particular warmed to the venue which had one bedroom opening up onto a beautiful terrace and she declared: "It's the dream."

Hoping to move on the search, Scarlette asked: "How do I beat this one then?"

Pam said: “I like most of it but I think maybe an ensuite on the next property and you never know, maybe a little pool – our own pool."

While Steve added a request for a "bigger bathroom".

Scarlette joked: "Just adding a few more bits in there, aren't we?"

Before warning the couple: "We have got a budget to work with, Pam and Steve, but I will try my best."

Scarlette tried to deliver on property number three, which had a private pool AND an ensuite.

But despite warming to the gorgeous mountain views, the interior did not live up to Pam and Steve's expectations.

The fourth villa came with three bedrooms, a pool, roof terrace and garden space – but Steve's bug bear with how close the property was to their neighbours meant the pair also turned it down.

Hoping for success with the fifth and final viewing, the last property seemed to impress with its three bedrooms, an ensuite and stunning views.

But as they discussed the properties on the final day of filming, Pam and Steve admitted they would not be putting in an offer on any of the villas visited.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at on Channel 4 at 4pm.
