Although she is not pleased that her conversation with Sharon was recorded, the 34-year-old journalist declares that she doesn’t regret ‘sharing [those] feelings’ with her former ‘The Talk’ co-host.
AceShowbiz –Elaine Welteroth has reacted to leaked audio of her comforting Sharon Osbourne. “The Talk” co-host, who supported her former colleague following her on-air debate with Sheryl Underwood, claimed that she is “disheartened” that their private conversation was being recorded.
The 34-year-old offered her two cents in a statement released to Entertainment Tonight. “None of us wanted that day to go how it did and I do not regret sharing these feelings in a private conversation with a colleague. To set the record straight, I never filed a complaint with HR against Sharon Osbourne or anyone else,” she began her message.
“I am disheartened, however, that I was recorded without my consent and that my kindness has been taken out of context and weaponized in an attempt to absolve responsibility for someone else’s actions,” the journalist added. “I was honored to join ‘The Talk’ to add my voice to important and lively conversations. I am so excited about the next chapter with our new co-host Jerry O’Connell and I am grateful for the new perspectives he will bring to the show.”
Elaine’s statement arrived after Daily Mail unleashed her recorded conversation with Sharon. In it, she was heard telling the wife of Ozzy Osbourne that she is “not racist” for defending Piers Morgan over his controversial remark about Meghan Markle.
“Sharon I am just so sorry that that went the way that it went,” Elaine said, to which Sharon replied, “Whatever you say, you just look guilty, and now everybody’s going to have that little seed of doubt. ‘Oh, you know she’s a bit racist.’ “
In response, Elain argued, “It’s so f**ked up. It’s so f**ked up.” She, however, tried to convince Sharon that Sheryl had nothing but love for her despite their heated TV exchange. “I just want you to know, Sharon, Sheryl loves you and respects you so much and had your back behind the scenes,” she explained. “She was not trying to attack you. I also understand when you had a night long of trolls f**king attacking you online, you feel like you have to defend yourself.”
“I know you’re upset. It was terrible. I just hope you know when that once this blows over that you know that Sheryl is your friend. She really is your friend,” Elaine went on stressing. “She doesn’t think you’re racist. I don’t think you’re racist. No one who knows you would ever say that or think that.”
