Gino D'Acampo supports 'King Of TV' Phillip Schofield after Amanda Holden drama

Gino D’Acampo has thrown his support behind his This Morning co-host amid his ongoing feud with Amanda Holden.

Despite their on-screen banter and spats, there’s nothing but love between the celebrity chef and the TV anchorman – and actually, he rather looks up to him.

In fact, he’s praised him as the King of Television, which is a mark of esteem if we’ve ever heard one.

Speaking to The Sun Online, he said: ‘I phoned Phillip Schofield as to me he is the King of television.

‘He is how every presenter should present, he’s very technically prepared.’

‘It was the best thing when he said “forget about what I do, forget about everyone else on television, do what you like to do, and if that works you will enjoy yourself and everyone will enjoy it around you,”’ he added.

His comments come amid an ongoing feud with Amanda Holden, who is currently presenting on Heart Radio.

It’s speculated their falling out comes back to Amanda’s belief that Phillip put a block on her taking over from Holly Willoughby on This Morning during her stint on I’m a Celebrity.

He was later called an ‘arch manipulator’ from Jon Roseman, who claimed he tried to interfere with the content of the show.

Amanda previously stepped in for Holly when she went on maternity leave in 2014.

Shortly after, Phillip said at the time that Amanda ‘kept him on his toes’, telling Heat magazine: ‘She has a faulty edit button and she forgets she’s on the telly, which is enormously endearing and funny, but occasionally quite scary.’

Phillip later said that he ‘hoped people would know him better’ as he denied the allegations.

Gino’s Win Your Wish List starts Sunday at 8pm on Channel 5.
