Sex/Life is airing on Netflix now and the drama has attracted the attention of a huge global audience. Making its way to the top spot on the streaming platform’s top 10, the series was inspired by real events. Author BB Easton wrote the book 44 Chapters About 4 Men, which is based on her own journals as a wife and mother.
Sex/Life is a daring drama about wife and mother Billie Connelly (played by Sarah Shahi) who fantasizes about what could have been.
She is married to her husband Cooper (Mike Vogel), but she reignites an obsession with her ex-boyfriend Brad Simon (Adam Demos).
Billie kept a record of her fantasies in a secret journal until Cooper found the saucy notes and needed to find out more about Brad.
The series was inspired by BB Easton’s book, which documents personal experiences similar to those depicted on screen.
Easton spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about the future of the series and her writing.
When asked about whether she would ever revisit her journals, she said: “Absolutely.
“There is a lot of talk about season two and I have high hopes just because of the response worldwide.
“It’s number one in the UK and it has been for a while, so I am very hopeful.”
The success of the book and the series has inspired her to take the story further, based on new experiences.
She said: “I kind of felt like I had written all there was to write about the story and the characters.
“But then I published the book and my life completely turned upside down.
“My husband and I have had so many more adventures just navigating this new world and going to book signings, and all the experiences we have had with Netflix.
“So I have thought about writing another memoir about all of the funny and sexy things that have happened since that book came out.
“I would definitely want to keep it going.” This is great news for fans who are keen to see more from the writer.
Easton lives in Georgia with her husband Ken and she used to work as a school psychologist.
She left her job to turn her attention to writing and her memoirs focus on her younger years and sexual history.
The mother-of-two inspired the main character, Billie, in the series and fans have fallen in love with Billie’s connection with Brad.
When speaking about her involvement in the series she said she was happy to sit back and let Netflix draw inspiration.
She said: “From day one they really knew what direction they wanted to take the story in.
“They wanted sexy and dramatic and they hired Stacy Rukeyser who is one of the best TV drama writers out there to be the showrunner.
“Really they had a vision and they went with it and my role was to just shake my pom-poms and be their cheerleader
“They did a wonderful job of keeping me abreast of all of their developments, it was really fun.”
Fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the steamy series, including one particular scene.
Episode three includes an unforgettable moment involving Brad in the shower following a gym session.
The clip has gone viral and it has certainly encouraged plenty of curious viewers to binge the series.
