Strictly Come Dancing 2021 latest news – Tom Fletcher faces missing SECOND show as BBC programme returns tonight

TOM Fletcher could potentially miss a second Strictly show if he is still unwell when his isolation period is over.

The McFly star, 36, and pro partner Amy Dowden,31, have been forced to sit out of this week after both catching Covid despite being double jabbed.

But insiders are now worried they might not be able to get back on the dance floor straight away and even if they do, they will have just three days to train.

A source said: “Amy and Tom need to be isolated until Tuesday at least and then they will have to undergo another test and make sure they are fit and well enough to train.

"Just being passed Covid-free doesn't mean they will be out of the woods."

Strictly continues tonight at 6.45pm on BBC One.

The results will then be read out the following day and if you miss any of the action, you can catch up on the BBC iPlayer.

Greg wise’s daughter says Dad is ‘incredibly fit’

The 21-year-old budding actress — whose mum is stage and screen star Emma Thompson — says: “I think living with two women, it has made him a Dirty Dancing fan. He wants to give something iconic a go.”

Gaia adds that actor Greg is taking the competition so seriously he has restricted his diet and has been training non-stop with his dance partner Karen Hauer.

But when the going gets tough, Gaia says her mum is giving him no sympathy. She says: “If he complains, my mum normally comes back with, ‘Oh you think that’s hard? How about trying pregnancy?’

“I think everyone finds it harder than they expected.”

The family have a holiday home in Argyll, and Gaia continues: “Dad’s always been incredibly fit because when we are in Scotland he’s constantly on the land, and working on the land basically, so he’s very fit. He’s avoiding heavy carbs, but apart from that he’s trying to enjoy the experience as much as he can.”

Strictly star Greg Wise has disco ball installed in his hallway

Greg Wise’s daughter Gaia thinks her dad will wow them when he is properly able to flex his muscles on the dance floor and do the iconic lift from Dirty Dancing.

Gaia reveals that he decided to go on Strictly following the death of his sister Clare in 2016 from bone cancer, after Greg acted as her carer 24/7.

She says: “My dad is doing Strictly for my auntie. She loved disco and she loved Strictly and she was a huge part of my life, and my dad’s life, so he’s doing it for her.

“My mum and I like to think we were taken over by her, wherever she is now, and she sort of went, ‘Buy a glitterball. Why don’t you get electronic ones with the lights on the walls?’ Although Mum and I said, ‘I think that’s a bit far’.

“She had a glitterball coffin which she was cremated in, and she went in to Staying Alive by The Bee Gees, and came out to Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive, so she was referred to as the disco queen in our family.

“After the glitterball coffin, Mum and I said, ‘I think she’s telling us to get a glitterball for the house’.

      Taking a swipe

MCFLY star Harry Judd took a cheeky swipe at bandmate Tom Fletcher for missing Strictly after catching Covid.

Harry, joined Alex Scott on Thursday’s The One Show to provide an update on how the Strictly Come Dancing star was doing.

Co-host Alex kicked off the show by quizzing Harry about his pal Tom: “I know all the McFly fans are watching now.

"We have to ask about your bandmate Tom, how is he? We've seen in the news from Strictly that he's going to miss this week."

Harry replied: "Yes, he's missing Strictly but he's also missed the last three shows of our tour, Alex."

"I know, I think he might have over-done it but no he's fine."

      No follow

Strictly’s John Whaite’s boyfriend Paul Atkins doesn’t follow his professional partner Johannes Radebe – unlike all of the other celeb’s partners.

It comes after the graphic designer appeared to look furious after his partner’s sexy dance with the south African dancer on Saturday night.

Paul – who leads a very private life out of the spot light – follows 2,014 accounts on Instagram, but Johannes isn’t one of them.

But then the likes of Giovanna Fletcher follows her husband Tom’s partner Amy Dowden and Adam Peaty’s girlfriend Eirianeed Munro is one of pro dancer Katya Jones’ followers.

“Arlene is strong and tough and her energy is boundless.

“No doubt she’ll have the group dancing around the campfire in a bid to beat the cold and keep morale high.

"Should be fun," a source said.

      Heartbreaking decision

Strictly bosses face a nightmarish dilemma over what to do if a competitor gets Covid after the quarter-final.

Currently, anyone testing positive must leave the BBC1 contest for a week.

But under those rules, it would mean any couple who made it through the quarters but then caught the virus would be automatically forced to miss the semi-finals.

And that leaves Strictly producers with the choice of either allowing them straight through to the final – or forcing them to quit.

A Strictly source said: “No matter what course of action they take, it is likely to be viewed as unfair.

“There could a lot of pressure to have extra contestants in the final which will create its own problems.

“There are contingency plans in place for many eventualities and the show is prepared to adapt.

      “But it’s a potential nightmare.”

      Fuelling rumours

Strictly pro Nikita Kuzmin’s girlfriend Nicole Wirt has fuelled Tilly Ramsay curse rumours with a cryptic post about ‘support’.

Just two weeks into the competition, speculation around Nikita and Tilly’s relationship has begun to swirl.

Professional dancer Nicole has now shared a picture of a lonely figure with no support beside a mass of bodies eager to offer congratulations.

Underneath the meme, Nicole wrote: “Don’t get fooled… It be like that” followed by a shh emoji.

The Frankfurt-based dancer was initially full of praise for Nikita and Tilly’s waltz in the first live show.

However, those messages disappeared and she has not posted any backing the duo since The Sun’s images the following day of 19-year-old Tilly — daughter of TV chef Gordon — letting Ukrainian Nikita, 23, into her flat at night.

Nicole had also posted a cryptic message online, saying: “Overthinking never lead me anywhere good…”

Greg's dance tomorrow to pay tribute to his late sister

Greg is dedicating his dance tonight to his sister Clare and will perform to If You Could Read My Mind by Ultra Nate, Amber and Jocelyn Enriquez.

He and Karen have worked on a freestyle dance for the song, known as the couple’s choice, which allows them to include modern and disco moves instead of sticking to the usual Strictly classics. Greg said yesterday: “I’m here for my sister, who was a big disco girl. What’s really gorgeous about the song is that it’s about lost love and the unattainable.

“What we’ve put together, hopefully, if it works and I don’t fall over, is almost like a Greek myth of the love coming back from the underworld for a brief moment of celebration and then she has to go again.

“So if we get it right, I think it should tick quite a few boxes.

“It should be emotional and emotive and explosive, and then very quiet, which is lovely for a disco.”

Strictly Come Dancing bosses furious with Katie McGlynn

STRICTLY bosses have been angered by Katie McGlynn’s Hollyoaks filming commitments eating into her dance rehearsal time.

Last week the former Coronation Street star finished joint third from the bottom of the scoreboard for her tango.

Since the contest launched two weeks ago Katie, 28, has had to fit her practice sessions with hunky Spanish pro dancer Gorka Marquez around shooting scenes for the Channel 4 soap.

A TV insider said: “Tensions seem to be rising as the actor struggles to juggle her two major commitments. There is no suggestion that Katie herself is to blame. She is being pulled in one direction by Hollyoaks and in the other by Strictly.

“But there’s no doubt she is exhausted by her schedule and she isn’t getting in as much practice as she would like with Gorka, who’s even arranged rehearsal sessions in Manchester to make life easier for her.”
