Tess Daly talks heartbreak at time away from Vernon Kay amid I’m A Celeb stint

Tess Daly has admitted that she's been struggling to sleep during her husband's time on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The 51-year-old TV star appeared on ITV's Lorraine on Tuesday morning to discuss Vernon Kay 's appearance on the reality show.

Chatting via video link from their Buckinghamshire home, Tess said it's "nerve-racking" to think of Vernon living in a Welsh castle.

"I’m thinking about him every minute of every day," she revealed.

"I’ve barely slept, it feels like he’s been gone for ages."

Tess confirmed that she and her two daughters haven't seen Vernon face-to-face for four and a half weeks now as the celebs were forced to self-isolate together before the ITV show began.

But she said her kids, Phoebe, 16, and 11-year-old Amber love seeing their dad on the television.

"They love it. Phoebe watches it with me every night, and I let Amber stay up later on a Friday to watch it. They miss him," Tess said.

The Strictly Come Dancing host went on to say that even when she's sleeping, she's thinking about I'm A Celeb.

"The other night I dreamt that I was doing a trial with Claudia Winkleman and it woke me up!" she laughed.

Her comments come after it was reported that a disagreement Ruthie Henshall had with Vernon, 46, had not aired while she was in the camp.

Ruthie, 53, was evicted on Sunday night's show and has since spoken out about her time on the show.

The moment in question saw Ruthie, Vernon, Victoria Derbyshire and Sir Mo Farah tasked with working in pairs to use a wooden board to roll a ball directly into a hole without dropping it.

However, Ruthie and Sir Mo faced difficulties – securing just two of their five balls in the challenge.

In a heated debate, she told Vernon: "Use your c**k to knock the ball down the hole!"

Moments after, Sir Mo said: "We dropped so many balls, it was tough – at one point I was getting frustrated, we all were."

A frustrated Ruthie exclaimed: "I was really frustrated because of what it was for — the treats from home.

"I don't want to let anyone down. I think this is absolutely almost impossible, it's crazy hard."

Speaking to The Sun, a source revealed: "Ruthie was just so desperate to get everyone their treat from home that in the heat of the moment she snapped at Vernon.

"He was trying to be supportive but Ruthie clearly took it the wrong way and briefly barked back at him.

"Vernon sometimes goes into host mode, which is only natural given it's his day job, and she felt it was distracting her focus."

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am
